MORE ABOUT EMILY
I am a bestselling Kindle Vella Author for dark fantasy romance. This includes adult fantasy with hot spice, new adult with some spice, and YA with minimal spice. Trauma-healing and strong-hearted and witty protagonists rule in all. I love writing strong heroines who never pick up a sword, “burn the world for her” bad boys, and a main LGBTQIA+ and polyamorous cast. I always write a core MF romance, so bisexual women in straight-passing relationships like mine may feel seen. Labels in my life are a must. Labels in my work? Not so much.
In late 2020, I found my voice while writing three books in three months, back-to-back. October-December = 400,000 words. My high of 2020 preceded a dark medical and mental health year in 2021 from battling anxiety/depression, watching my husband struggle through cancer surgery and chemo, and multiple ER and hospitalizations for myself due to painful blood clots.
I credit writing full-time on Kindle Vella and all my new readers/supporters for my surviving 2021. Vella helped me launch a new era of writing spicy fantasy romance and challenging myself in ways I never could have imagined.
My past work includes a Top 100 YA anti-trafficking dystopian: The Uncaged Series which has been removed from all platforms, barring revisions due to my new voice. I ask you please respect the new place I’m in as I continue to grow and don’t wish to be judged by my old works.

As an abuse survivor and trained advocate, I have worked as an awareness speaker all over Minnesota including the MLA and MEA conferences attended by hundreds of educators and librarians. I’m taking a break from MEA in 2023. My passion through advocacy work and writing is to celebrate and normalize queer beyond stereotypes and labels, showcase trauma-overcoming themes, and empower female audiences, including my two daughters.

I live in Saint Paul with my husband and two daughters. When not writing enemies to lovers with sex-positive and empowered females smashing the patriarchy, I can be found at my local coffee shop writing, at my local park reading while my kids play, or cuddling with my cat while binge-watching Schitts Creek.

Pre-Covid Past:
In 2009, the seed was planted for Emily to learn more about the anti-trafficking movement during a visit to Germany. Her time volunteering and training at seminars, forums, and fundraising opportunities has garnered interest and support in her work from political leaders, anti-trafficking advocates, social workers, educators, musicians, youth leaders, and other authors. She has trained with international and local organizations and loves injecting inspired truths into her book. The Uncaged Series is Emily’s anti-trafficking series published with a small press YA dystopian that shows the world of trafficking, themes of identity, and includes a resources page.
