Welcome to my little corner “Shore” stop! Thanks for joining the Heroes and Heroines Blog hop as part of LitCon 2021.
We are excited to have you on this delightful adventure!
Come along with us and meet some amazing heroes and heroines who may just win, or break, your heart. We have the supernatural, the unnatural, and the magical on this journey for you.
Today, I am going to offer you four mini-profiles of my lead protagonists of my four different book series instead of one long biography of a single character. Since I have two series available, the beginning of another, and a fantasy romance I’m seeking a private readership for, I would remiss not to feature all four of my leading ladies. The last for my most recent series is undoubtedly my favorite and my first ever fantasy book. I’ll feature my characters and a bit about their worlds and journeys.
First, we will begin with Serenity of The Uncaged Series, my very first published series – published with Clean Teen Publishing. The first ebook, The Aviary, is FREE!
SERENITY LACE – The Uncaged Series
The Aviary is an upper YA dystopian
Blurb: A dark, riveting dystopian tale: Taken from her family and sold to the highest bidder, 16-year-old Serenity is put on display at The Aviary, a museum of living art. To escape, she must earn the trust of Luc, her mysterious captor — but she doesn’t expect to fall for him.
Plunging Serenity right into an intense scene was my favorite part to write. The Aviary opens in the Glass District – a futuristic version of the Red-Light District – where Serenity is being auctioned off to the highest bidder following her kidnapping. After her auction, Serenity breaks her glass cage and even kicks the auctioneer off the platform while security drags her away.
Serenity is nothing like her namesake. She is a spitfire. At sixteen, she has grown up all her life in random hotels, sheltered and protected from the outside world where girls are considered commodities and bought and sold on streets, carnivals, Museums, and the infamous Temple. With only her older protector, Skylar, to watch over her, Serenity has only glimpsed at the world outside. She is much like a child. Extremely intense, fiery, emotional, dramatic. She compares herself to lightning and is not afraid to use her mouth or her body against her new “owner” ― a Museum Director named Luc who ushers her into The Aviary ― an elite Museum where girls go by bird-themed names. And Serenity becomes the lead exhibit and the first moving exhibit in Museum history: the Swan.
During her time in the Museum, Serenity begins to succumb to Luc’s beautiful and pretty cage for her, especially when she finds herself developing strong emotions for the enigmatic Director. But when girls start falling into comas and dying, Serenity knows the killer had marked her for the ultimate target.
Motivation: Escape the Aviary/find her missing parents and gain Luc’s trust
Description: Silver white curls, fair skin, intense green eyes
Style: Long skirts and dresses
Growth: Learns the stories of other girls at the Museum and develops a love for them.
Quote: “Stop it! Stop talking about them like that! If you would stop pretending for once! Stop pretending they’re wings and feathers and beaks, nothing but pecking, pecking, pecking! Damn you, Luc, they are girls! Girls with thoughts and dreams and desires and heartbeats!”
Loves: Swimming and sweets
Enneagram: 8-7-3

REINA CARAWAY – The Roseblood Series
Roseblood is a YA paranormal romance
Blurb: As the only human in a secret society of vampires and werewolves prophesied to rule both races, Reina has more than her fair share of pressure. Add her growing supernatural abilities, a stalker murderer able to cloak her scent, two rival vampires training while competing for her heart, and even the Queen enlisting her aid, it’s just another typical day in Le Couvènte.
For many years, Reina was my favorite character. As a familiar embodiment of myself, she always will be close to my heart. Reina’s journey begins when she wakes in the middle of a vineyard with no idea how she arrived there along with bruises on her back and a corpse and bloody rose at her feet.
Reina Caraway is a child of prophecy fated to become Queen and unite both hostile races forever. When her father is a vampire, her mother a human, and one older vampire and older werewolf brother, Reina loves both races equally.
Though she has the heart of a Queen, Reina is impulsive and overconfident. Especially when she learns that she is a creator.
While born and bitten vampires have limited powers, Reina possesses the ability of infinite powers of creation as well as the ability to turn into a werewolf. However, her powers are bound to her emotions, which she must process and master in order to lead. And who better to train her than the most powerful and charismatic born vampire young man at her high school who is being groomed for the throne? And the bitten vampire next door: a long-time friend and swoon-worthy protector with over a century of battle experience? But with the murders growing closer to her inner circle, Reina will need all her powers to track down her stalker and rise to take her place as Queen.
Motivation: Become Queen, bring peace to her city, develop her powers, fall in deep love.
Description: Cinnamon brown curls, fair skin, amethyst eyes, beautiful neck, slender frame, minimal hips and thicker thighs but longer legs and also fuller bust
Style: Leggings/jogging and long dresses, blouses, or sweaters with many scarf accessories.
Growth: turning her overconfidence into strength, standing up and fighting, taking responsibility for her wrong choices
Loves: Books, parties, roses, politics, long walks in the woods, training for her power
Quote: “I want to become the queen who burns blood and shatters stars and sets hearts on fire.” I wanted to unite the clans and packs forever.
Theme: Phantom of the Opera
Enneagram: 3-8-5

ASHLEIGH STARR – The Flesher Trilogy
Flesher is an upper YA apocalyptic zombie romance.
Blurb: Armed with a gun & a potty mouth, teen sharpshooter Ash collects blood & the occasional heart in a dogged quest for a cure for her half-flesher fiancé, Garrett. But if the town patriarchy uncovers her secret, they’ll kill them both.
Ashleigh was such a fun and badass character to write. In an apocalyptic world with zombies known as “fleshers”, Ashleigh lives in a rural, patriarchal city where she’s hiding a very dark secret in her basement: her fiancé, Garrett. Every night, Garrett turns into a flesher, but returns to human form at dawn. Since the mayor and his son would shoot Garrett on site, Ash chains him up in her basement each night while searching for a cure.
Ash is a badass. She’s been raised in a world of fleshers and learned to fight young while working hard on a farm. She is sexually confident, has a dirty mouth, and is a sharpshooter who can wield a gun better than anyone in her city. At heart, she just wants to run away with Garrett, who is a sexy former marine with the heart of a southern gentleman. Ash first met Garrett when he picked her up in the middle of a tornado in his T-Rex of a truck, and they shared some sexually-charged language and many sparks. Since Ash was only sixteen at the time and Garrett twenty-two, he held off for over a year even as Ash continued to pursue him. Instead, he got to know her parents and did odd jobs around their farm before fleshers destroyed it. Then, he opened up his home in the city to Ash’s family. But after a flesher bit her mother and she ran away, Ash’s father went into the wild to pursue her, leaving Ash along with Garrett…until a flesher bit him, too. Before he was infected, his bargain with her was eighteen. Now, on the cusp of her eighteenth birthday, Ashleigh is determined more than ever to find a cure and claim her man.
When the mayor’s son, Lucius, a rival of Garrett’s begins to express interest in Ash and coming around her and Garrett’s home, she knows she must find a cure and fast. When fleshers breach the city walls, a wannabe female pirate and a fairy-haired semi-clairvoyant might just be Ashleigh’s saving grace.
Motivation: Run away with Garrett and live happily ever after killing fleshers and having lots of sex.
Description: Hair like Spanish moss – a silvery brown, olive green eyes, very fit and sexy figure.
Style: Ripped jeans, overalls, leather jacket, sturdy boots
Loves: making out with Garrett (spying on him in the shower at times), killing fleshers, hard farm labor.
Quote: “Sorry, Herc. I don’t think we’re quite close enough for you to go touching this girl’s hardware.”
As long as this guy doesn’t have any body parts in his trunk, I’m hell-bent on making him my husband someday.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST!
ELYSIA ROSE – Courting Death and Destruction
(Since this book is currently unpublished, I am simply offering character portrayals as inspired by real people. Zendaya and Audreyana Michelle are the most prominent inspiration or Elysia)
(Art Representation by Diana Pinguicha)
CDnD is a steamy enemies to lovers dark fantasy romance – upper YA/crossover
Blurb: When a bi feminist princess with magic powers weds the Dragon Prince of Destruction to end his bride killing, it will take a gay blood bishop and a queer Queen to help them fall in love—or the Dragon will destroy the princess, take her power, and raise hell on earth.
CDnD began as a venture to prove I could write “Enemies to Lovers” without romanticizing abuse. In writing, I found my voice through Elysia Rose, a bisexual feminist princess who is undoubtedly my favorite character of all time. At her birth, Elysia was gifted a magical Halo in her heart by a Goddess which destines her as the Everblood―a child of prophecy who will destroy the Father of Vampires and end his evil reign of human blood farms and vampire courts. Throughout her life, the Halo has caused Elysia to glow, grants her the most desirable pure blood the color of gold, shed stardust from her skin, and even hiccup tiny gold stars at times. But Elysia wants nothing to do with her glorified glow stick due to a traumatic incident that involved the halo when she was only seventeen.
Set in a remade world that is one great continental mass thanks to the Father of Vampires tampering with tectonic plates, Elysia spends her time smuggling children out of the Father’s human blood farms, training with her girlfriend in their hidden Rose City, learning from her Queen mother at the Rose City court, and ultimately…hiding from the Father’s son: Neo―the Dragon Prince of Destruction. Since the Father is cursed to never recognize the Everblood, Neo hunts for any pure-blooded girls and ushers them into his bridal path. None have purer blood than Elysia. And Neo always kills his brides.
With some deep trauma in her past, Elysia channels her coping mechanisms into everything from dark humor to a penchant for vampire venom (alcoholic effects without the damage), training with her girlfriend, and an underground lair―what happens in the lair stays in the lair.
But after Neo and his Father invade and destroy her city and take her mother captive, Elysia is driven out of hiding. Her survival strategies of dark humor and sharp, feminist wit go into overdrive during her interactions with the Prince. With her Destiny looming before her, this princess isn’t about to let the last Dragon conquer her. Destiny might be a bitch, but Elysia is bringing her bigger sister, Karma, straight to the Prince’s door!
Motivation: Marry the Prince/destroy him/take revenge/save her mother/fulfill her destiny
Description: Honey gold skin, ash brown hair with gold tinsel-thin highlights, warm roan brown eyes surrounded by a gold ring of a halo signature, feminine and alluring figure. Gold stardust routinely drifts off her skin. She can also form any weapon with her Halo.
Style: Elysia loves wearing feminine and seductive gowns. In the Prince’s Tenth Court, she takes full advantage of a wide variety of such fashion. But at bedtime, she prefers light, silk/satin chemises trimmed with lace. And she can also appreciate simple training or battle clothes like leggings, leather tunic, etc.
Loves: Her family, friends, girlfriend, vampire venom, smuggling for the Underground, battles of wits, photography, rainbow-painted vampire wings, parties.
Quote: Too many I love, so I’m including multiple:
“Don’t call me an angel.”
I had no quarrel with Destiny…until that bitch took the night off.
Destiny might be a bitch, but I’m bringing her bigger sister, Karma, right to the Prince’s door.
If I ever have wings, I’m certain they will be fragile and skeletal-like—delicate as sparrow bones.
Because I am supposed to be the warrioress of light destined to destroy the Father of Vampires. Some star-kissed savior. Lucky me.
“Neoptolemus, I am not your property.”
“Aww,” I feign pity. “Poor wedded but un-bedded demon. Is your hand so terribly sore?”
“I vow to be your Ezer Kenegdo.”
“You think I can be bought with some petty, mind-blowing sexual favors?”
“Funny. I thought it was you who went to bed thoroughly soaked, wanton, and flush.”
Understanding is the greatest form of love.
Enneagram: 4-8-5
